Long Awaited Update!

Well....... It sure has been a long time between updates, slack me!  We have been to a few shows since the spring, and the horses are all going really well.  Tui has been very consistent in the saddle hunter ring, with Champion at Clyde mini show at Labour weekend, and champion at Wyndham early in December.  Milton was also great, winning the turnout and 2nd in the open paced and mannered, always a great class to do well in!  Grace had her first outing at Labour weekend, Clyde, and was fantastic, winning the paced and mannered, much thanks must go to Jade Fleming who did as always a super job riding her.  Pero jumped really well, winning the 1.05m gamblers stakes and placing 2nd in the 1.05m round the ring.  Grace then went to Wyndham as her first A&P, and was once again well behaved, winning some ribbons in the hack ring, again with Jade.  Jade then jumped Cougar in the 90cm SJ, for one rail at Wyndham, and a great double clear at Milton

We have had 2 lovely foals born, both by Lena's Playboy.  A chestnut (possibly to go grey) filly out of Blackfoot and a bay also possibly to go go grey filly out of Blackie.  Will be super exciting to watch these 2 grow up.

We sold Suzanna, the lovely filly by Lena's Playboy out of Blackfoot to Lesley Acutt, of Kaikopakopa, north of Auckland, and Posh, filly by Designer Di Bar out of Blackie to Mimi Atkinson from Ashley, Rangiora.  Hopefully great new partnerships about to start!

The aquisition of 2 lovely thoroughbreds off the track is very exciting - 'Reciprocal' a 6 year old chestnut gelding by His Royal Highness, and 'Cape Le Paul' an 8 year old gelding by Cape Cross.  Watch this space!!

Life after Hunting

5 July 2011

Hunting has been finished for 3 weeks now, and the boys are definately enjoying being on holiday!  So we have been busy with the young horses, Catch and Jack are being started under saddle at the moment, Grace and another TB I have here 'Bro' are being schooled ready for the Spring, and the rising 2 and 3 year olds are coming in for more education.  The weather has been fantastic for winter in Central, but bring on the Spring is all I can say!

We have an exciting new arrival - the TB mare 'Our Saving Grace'.

'Gracey' as she is known at home arrived last week after much hassling on Nicky's behalf for the owners to part with her.  She is a lovely 17hh 5 year old grey mare by Danroad, and hasn't raced since the end of October 2010.  She is proving to have the neatest attitude, and is settling into her new life as a sporthorse very well!  Nicky can't wait for the spring to come around so we can get back on the road to some shows!  Watch this space!  We hope to compete Gracey in the show jumping arena and hunt field, and in the future breed from her.  EXCITING!  Will get some photos ASAP.
